There has been a big push toward spending time outdoors and in nature. That has carried over into vacation planning. Consider one of these four options if you want something far removed from theme parks and big cities on your next trip. 

1. Rent a Vacation Cabin

Remote vacation cabins are a great way to enjoy all the conveniences of a modern house while being surrounded by natural beauty. For a truly unique experience, look for places like broken bow cabins that put you close to tons of great outdoor activities while still giving you room to spread out and find solitude. 

2. Hit the road in an RV

As people sought solitude and isolation, recreational vehicles proved to be an effective traveling tool. Modern RVs offer many of the comforts of home in an easy-to-handle mobile package. RV rentals are a great way to see if this is something you and your family will enjoy.

There are a few things you’ll need to keep in mind if you choose to go this route. First, some gas stations or restaurants may not have suitable parking. Also, you’ll want to make sure your destination has proper hookups for electricity, water and waste or be prepared with an off-grid capable unit. 

3. Trek the Backcountry With a Pack

For real solitude and an immersive outdoor experience, pack your gear on your back and set off on backcountry trails. Wilderness trekking is an excellent way to really enjoy nature, as long as you really enjoy nature in all of its forms. After all, you will not be able to retreat to a room or car if storms roll in. You’ll also want to be sure your physical conditioning allows this type of strenuous activity. Practicing hiking with your loaded pack around local parks can be a good trial run to make sure you are ready for a longer adventure. 

4. Sail Out to Open Waters

Are you more at home on the water than the trail? Then a beach destination combined with a sailing charter may be a better way for you to kick back and relax. If you have experience, you may be able to take a boat out on your own. However, there are also options that let you have an experienced crew to handle the work while you enjoy the beauty of the water.

There are tons of ways to embrace nature on your next vacation. Try your hand at sailing, hit the open road in an RV, pack in to your campsite or relax in a luxurious vacation rental, you are sure to find plenty of opportunities to recharge.
